FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – A post and a picture in the Facebook group ‘Physician Moms Group’ has gone viral. At the center of the post is a pregnant Kentucky obstetrician, Dr. Amanda Hess — who delivered a patient’s baby shortly before giving birth herself.
The P.M.G page was created by Dr. Hala Sabry of California and has nearly 70,000 mothers who work in the field of medicine.
Dr. Sabry told ABC 36 the photo of Dr. Hess was taken minutes after she delivered her second child at Frankfort Regional Medical Center on Tuesday.
Dr. Hess was preparing for her induction and delivery when she overheard another woman, Leah Halliday Johnson needed to deliver right away because her baby was in distress.
According to Dr. Sabry, Dr. Hess ‘worked until the last second’ and helped Johnson deliver her baby before returning to the operating room to deliver her own child.
The post has over 10,000 likes and 1,000 shares.
ABC 36 was told the babies are doing well.
Dr. Hess practices at Woman’s Care of the Bluegrass in Frankfort and plans to be on maternity leave for the next 6 to 8 weeks.
