MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- A truck smashes into a family’s Madison County home leaving an elderly couple and their daughter hurt.
Police say around 8 this morning a truck was driving down Moran Mill Road here when the driver lost control, veered off the road, hitting this stop sign before slamming into a home.
Kentucky State Police say 20-year-old Brandon Dodson of Somerset was behind the wheel of a 2007 Chevy Silverado when he fell asleep causing the truck to drive off the road and plow through the front wall of the house.
“It’s absolutely unbelievable. I mean it’s totally destroyed for the most part,” said Adam Shoopman, a family member of the victims.
Family and friends say the elderly homeowners, Russel and Joan Hurt, and their adult daughter, Ann Nebraski, were home at the time.
They say Dodson’s truck crashed through the front living room into the kitchen, hitting Nebraski and pinning her against the back wall of the house.
“I mean it’s just unbelievable. You couldn’t imagine a vehicle doing that. It had to have been going at a good speed to do something like that,” said Shoopman.
Nebraski was taken to UK hospital with serious injuries.
The Hurt’s were treated for minor injuries.
Friends say Nebraski lives in Ohio but was in town this week to celebrate her mother’s 80th birthday, which was just yesterday.
They say while the damage to the home is catastrophic, they’re just thankful no one was killed.
“I think it was a bad birthday but a good miracle that everybody was alright and hurt no more than they were. It could have been worse. They could have been dead there but they survived it,” said Carolyn Tarte, a friend of the Hurt’s.
All three victims are expected to be okay.
KSP says they are still investigating the cause of this crash and it is still unclear if the driver could face any charges.
