Officials: Fayette County school employee resigns after being charged with rape


LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Lexington Police have charged a former Fayette County School employee with rape, according to investigators.

Police say Lindsey Banta Jarvis had a sexual relationship with a former student.

Fayette County School district officials say Jarvis was a teacher’s aide at Veterans Park Elementary.

They released the following statement:

“We cannot comment on individual personnel issues, but we can assure our families and community members that we are aware of the matter. The individual has resigned from her position at Veterans Park Elementary School.”

The school district says Jarvis resigned and her last day as a Fayette County school employee was June 16th.

Jarvis is charged with two counts of rape third degree, according to officials.

She pleaded not guilty Monday afternoon and her next court appearance is July 10.

The judge says Jarvis is not to have contact with the minor.

Lexington Police say she is also facing charges in Woodford County and Versailles Police is the lead investigators.
