MOUNT VERNON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A badly decomposed body that was found June 12, 2017, has been positively identified as a missing Rockcastle County man, according to the coroner.
On Friday, the remains were identified as 31-year old William Hayes, who had been missing since June 2, 2017, according to the coroner.
The remains were found near an old rock quarry off Mullins Station Road near Mount Vernon Monday night.
Investigators at the State Medical Examiner’s Office spent the week working to identify the remains.
The cause of death is still under investigation, according to the coroner.
