LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – There was another shooting incident in Lexington in broad daylight Friday afternoon, one of nearly a half-dozen reported this week, according to Lexington Police.
Police say just before 3:00 p.m., someone in a black pickup truck fired shots at a gray Nissan Altima on North Broadway near the on-ramp to I-75 and then took off. Police say no one was hurt.
Investigators say the Nissan’s driver and passenger abandoned the car on the road after a bullet shot out a tire, but police aren’t sure if that’s the reason they left the car.
Police say they eventually found the driver at home, but that the individual wasn’t very cooperative in providing information about the incident or the passenger.
It’s just the latest in a series of “shots fired” calls for police.
“Statistically we are responding to more shots fired calls, we are responding to more assaults with firearms. You know, we look into every case separately, so every case is a little bit different so we have seen an increase in firearms being used whether its shots fired, whether its domestic related situation, so we have seen that trend lately,” said Lt. Jackie Newman.
Lexington police are still investigating what led to Friday’s incident.
