Fans disappointed after Tebow game gets rained out

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- The wet weather forced the Lexington Legends to postpone their first game against the Columbia Fireflies tonight.

It was a sad day for many fans here at Whitaker Bank Ballpark as the Lexington Legends had to reschedule their game against Colombia.

As many of you know Colombia is the team that Tim Tebow plays for and many of these fans tell me they traveled hours just to see him play.

Leisa Moore and Troy Tedder of Indiana came down to Lexington with their kids this memorial day weekend just to see Tim Tebow play in person.

“Huge tebow fans. Have been since he played with the gators. Always wanted that and to bring them down to see him play and get his autograph,” said Troy Tedder.

So when the game was rained out the family was a little disappointed and they weren’t alone, several other fans in the crowd had also driven hours just to see Tebow.

“We saw all the rain but we were hoping they would still play but it is what it is,” said Drew Dempsey of Cincinnati.

But luckily for Moore and Tedder, their kids were at least able to snag Tebow’s autograph before the game was postponed.

“It’s really exciting because he really loves his fans and I noticed that because I know a lot of kids don’t get to do that. I got the ball today,” said Moore.

“It was really exciting just to see them smile and to see them excited. I mean as a parent that’s all you want,” said Moore and Tedder’s kids.

Luckily for this family, they are going to be in Lexington all weekend and are excited to see their hero in action on the field tomorrow.

“Hopefully the rain holds off and we get both games. Yeah that would be great. Autographs are nice but it’s love to see him play also,” said Moore and Tedder.

Now staff tell me that anyone that had a ticket to tonight’s game can use that ticket to get into tomorrows rescheduled game at 12:05 or they can use it for any other legends game this season.
