Jessica Curran, with Cambridge Place, comes to the studio to tell Eric Burke about a very special Memorial Day remembrance they will be holding on Monday, May 29th.
In order to honor four former residents of Cambridge Place, the organization is going to Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville to decorate gravesites and honor their service, as well as the other soldiers who are buried there. Current residents and staff were close with these veterans, so it is an opportunity for them to remember the Cambridge Place family that resides there.
Cambridge Place will be transporting approximately three current residents and several staff to pay respects on Memorial Day. They will be attending the Memorial Day Service at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, before visiting and decorating the graves of former Cambridge Place residents with plaques that residents spent time making.
The remaining family and friends of the former residents that are buried at Camp Nelson have been invited, and would like to extend the invitation to everyone to join in on remembering what Memorial Day is all about!
This is the first time Cambridge Place has been able to take residents to the Memorial Day Service due to the distance. They are very excited to be a part of the service and also visit the graves of former Air Force, Navy, and Army residents!
Camp Nelson National Cemetery is located at 6980 Danville Road, in Nicholasville.
