GREENUP, Ky. (AP) — A Kentucky park lodge has reopened after repairs from a fire that closed the building in 2015.
State and local officials joined in reopening the Jesse Stuart Lodge at Greenbo Lake State Resort Park in northeastern Kentucky. Parks Commissioner Donnie Holland praised park staff members for their work and patience.
A fire in October 2015 forced the lodge to close for repairs. That work uncovered other problems with the lodge roof, forcing it to remain closed longer than expected.
Besides the repaired roof, the lodge has new paint, carpeting and flooring. Officials say the electrical system, which was the source of the fire, was repaired.
All of the lodge’s guest rooms were painted and updated, and more meeting space was added. The park has a campground, marina, pool and amphitheater.
