NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Camp Nelson National Cemetery and the Central Kentucky Veterans Committee (CKVC) will host its annual Memorial Day Ceremony Monday, 29 May 2017 at 11:00 a.m.
The program will include patriotic music, a cannon salute by the 138th Field Artillery Brigade,Kentucky Army National Guard, the presentation of colors by American Legion Post 18 (Stanford), an aircraft fly-over by the 123rd Air Lift Wing, Kentucky Air National Guard.
Keynote speaker is Chaplain Dean Cook (Captain, US Navy Retired) a Vietnam Veteran who served over 30 years in uniform. During the Vietnam War, he served in support of Marine amphibious landings, Navy River Boat patrols and on numerous ships serving along the Vietnamese coast.
A wreath laying by a Gold Star family will follow the keynote speech, as well as, a retirement of the colors, rifle volley from American Legion Post 18 (Stanford, KY) and patriotic music followed by the playing of Taps by American Legion Post 63 (Nicholasville).
