Manslaughter charge after fatal McCreary Co. wreck

WHITLEY CITY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police say a man has been arrested in connection with a three-vehicle traffic crash on US HWY 27 in the Stearns community that killed one person.

Troopers say they received a report of the crash on Saturday at about 3:30 p.m.  Investigators say that a Chevrolet Cobalt driven by 37-year-old Michael S. Crabtree was traveling northbound when he crossed the center line and hit a Honda motorcycle head-on.  The motorcycle then hit a Ford Focus that was traveling southbound.

The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene by the McCreary County Coroner.

The driver of the Focus was uninjured.

Kentucky State Police say drug usage is suspected to be a factor in the collision.

Crabtree was flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment, after which he was arrested and charged with manslaughter.

He was taken to the Knox County Detention Center in Knoxville.

No word from KSP on what drug usage is suspected in the collision.
