LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Raindrops weren’t enough to keep University of Kentucky police officers from trying to do some good on Friday.
A fundraiser for Special Olympics had police up on the roof of the Dunkin’ Donuts on Broadway for “Cops on Donut Shops.”
The fundraiser included nearly 12 Dunkin’ Donuts stores across the state.
“We’re trying to do an end goal of $10,000 dollars for Special Olympics Kentucky this year, so hopefully with this event we get closer to that margin,” says UK police officer Zach Downing. “It always feels great to help out. It’s a great organization and we work really close with them and have a great relationship.”
The UK police department says they’ve already raised almost $5,000 this year for athletes.
