TRAFFIC ALERTS: Closures scheduled in several counties

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC has released information on 3 new lane closures in Fayette, Rockcastle, and Woodford Counties, as well as a continuing closure in Madison County.

In Madison County, a temporary closure will continue for a portion of KY 21 (East/Big Hill Road) as crews replace three cross drains.  The road will be closed between KY 1617/Short Line Pike and the Cowbell Creek Bridge from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. through Thursday, May 18th.  Drivers should use US 421 and KY 1617/Short Line Pike to bypass the closure.

In Fayette County, a closure is scheduled for Tuesday, May 16th from 6:30 p.m. until 12:00 a.m. for I-75 Southbound over I-64 for bridge deck patching work.  The southbound lane right/slow lane will be closed.  One lane will remain open.

In Rockcastle county, I-75 will be closed for two nights beginning May 22 to allow for demolition of the KY 3275 bridge. I-75 South will be closed to traffic beginning at 10:00 p.m. on Monday, May 22 and will reopen by 6 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23. I-75 north will be closed from 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23 until 6 a.m. on Wednesday, May 24.  Motorists traveling on I-75 south will detour via Exit 76 (Berea) onto U.S. 25 and reconnect with I-75.  Motorists traveling on I-75 north will detour via Exit 62 (Mt. Vernon) onto U.S. 25 and reconnect with I-75.  In addition, KY 3275 (Hurricane School Road) will be closed to through traffic at mile point 0.7 beginning on Monday, May 22 at 8 a.m. A signed detour route will be in place. KY 3275 will reopen to traffic upon completion of the new overpass which is expected to be completed by Sept. 1.

Finally, in Woodford County, KYTC says a closure is scheduled for Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Fords Mill Road/KY 1965 for roadway improvement.  That closure will be at mile marker 4.28.  Drivers are advised to use McCowans Ferry Road/KY 1964 and Troy Pike/KY 33 to avoid the area.
