LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A retail delivery service that employs “shoppers” to hand pick and deliver items to customers in as little as an hour, is set to expand into Lexington on Thursday, reaching some 285,000 households.
Customers will be able to order from Whole Foods Market, Petco, Costco, Meijer and Kroger, among others, and have their groceries delivered to their doorsteps. Areas of service include Lexington, Fayette, Nicholasville, Versailles, Lawrenceburg, Frankfort, Georgetown and Harrodsburg.
Instacart officials say they are also bringing new jobs to the area with plans to hire more than 100 new shoppers.
“Over the past year we’ve seen incredible demand in the Lexington area,” said Dave Osborne, Instacart General Manager. Expansion into Lexington gives us an opportunity to initiate service in the Kentucky market. We’re also excited to build a world class shopper community, where we can offer fun and flexible jobs for our shoppers, who ultimately deliver this amazing service to the community.”
