EDDYVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – An autopsy showed the only sign of trauma appeared to be self-inflicted on a prison inmate who died Tuesday at the Kentucky State Penitentiary, according to State Police.
An official cause of death for 39-year old Marcus Penman, of Hopkinsville, is pending blood test results, according to KSP.
The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC) says Penman was being held in restrictive custody for fighting. The DOC says that’s when Penman “began self-harm actions” and prison staff tried to stop him.
State Police continue to investigate the death.
