LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- It wasn’t too busy of a day at Blue Grass Airport, with only a dozen or so people waiting in the lobby for flights or to pick someone up, but every person seemed to know about the United Airlines video and had an opinion.
In the days since it was released, millions of people have seen the video showing a Kentucky doctor being dragged off a United Airlines plane after refusing to give up his seat on the overbooked flight.
The video causing outrage among people who say the airline took it too far.
“I thought, you know, why would they allow them to get themselves in that situation. There was several options. There was probably more people that would have been willing to get off and they should have just walked away from that man,” said Corinne Bertrand, who was waiting for a family member to land at Blue Grass Airport.
United has multiple flights that go in and out of Blue Grass Airport daily and some say the video has them thinking twice before booking the airline in the future.
“I wouldn’t, which I wouldn’t get on a flight anyway because I’m terrified of heights,” said Felicity Ferguson, who was waiting for a family member at Blue Grass Airport.
But others say an incident like this could have happened on any airline and they are confident with all the backlash we are seeing now that something like this will never happen again.
“No. I think everybody makes a mistake and everybody learns from it,” said Randy Bertrand, who was waiting for a family member at Blue Grass Airport.
United Airlines has said it will reimburse all of the passengers, including the doctor, for the flight.
