LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued a Red Flag Warning for most of central and south central Kentucky from noon until 8:00 p.m.
The warning is in response to critical fire weather conditions, with temperatures approaching 80 degrees, low relative humidity, gusty southwest winds, and plenty of dry fuel.
Counties affected are Adair, Allen, Anderson, Barren, Bourbon, Boyle, Bullitt, Butler, Casey, Clark, Edmonson, Fayette, Franklin, Garrard, Grayson, Green, Hardin, Harrison, Hart, Henry, Jefferson, Jessamine, LaRue, Lincoln, Logan, Madison, Marion, Mercer, Metcalf, Monroe, Nelson, Nicholas, Oldham, Scott, Shelby, Simpson, Spencer, Taylor, Trimble, Warren, Washington, and Woodford.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. The NWS says a combination of strong winds, low relative humidity,and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
