KSP: Former teacher accused of relationship with 17-year-old student

CARLISLE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police say a former teacher at Carlisle County Middle/High School has been arrested, accused of carrying on a months-long relationship with a 17-year-old minor.

Troopers say an anonymous tip led them to begin investigating Zachary Sims, 29, of Hickory, back on March 11, during which they uncovered evidence that Sims had carried on a sexually explicit conversation with the teen over the course of several months.  Sims reportedly resigned from his position at the school shortly after the investigation began.

A warrant for Sims arrest was issued on April 3rd, charging him with unlawful use of electronic means to induce a minor to engage in sexual activity, tampering with physical evidence, and official misconduct.

Sims was arrested Tuesday and taken to the Ballard County Jail.
