LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A wreck that caused a horse trailer to overturn on Iron Works Pike near I-75 closed down the road for a period Thursday morning.

Police say a car exiting I-75 attempted to turn onto Iron Works Pike, headed northbound, but pulled out in front of the trailer and collided with it.

Three horses were inside the trailer, and had to be cut out of the partitions in the truck.  The horses were able to walk out after the crash, but were taken to a local horse doctor for evaluation.

A man and his dog were in the trailer.  The dog was uninjured, and the man was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

The woman driving the car was uninjured, though her fender was damaged.

Iron Works Pike reopened around noon.
