FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Customers in Frankfort are experiencing widespread power outages, including the state capitol.
According to Kentucky Utilities, the outage was caused by a fuse in an east Frankfort substation that went bad. They say it is currently affecting approximately 3,200 KU customers in western Scott and eastern Franklin Counties. This does not include Frankfort Plant Board customers. The substation is one of the feeds to the Frankfort municipal system, so much of Frankfort is without power as well, but ABC 36 does not have an official count of how many FPB customers are currently affected.
Kentucky Utilities says crews are on the scene working to restore service as soon as possible.
ABC36 will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
