LPD asking for help identifying robbery suspect


LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Investigators with the Lexington Police Department are asking the public for help in identifying a robbery suspect.

Officers say at around 10:00 p.m. Sunday, March 19, a man entered the Quality Inn on Newtown Court and told the front desk clerk, “This is a robbery.”

Police say the man implied he had a weapon and demanded money. When the employee refused to hand over any money, investigators say the man walked behind the counter and took money from the cash drawer.

The employee told police that after leaving the hotel, the suspect drove off in a light-colored passenger car.

The suspect is described as approximately six feet tall, and possibly 40-50 years old. Investigators released surveillance video which shows the man wearing a torn, red and black Ohio State Buckeyes jacket.
