Meteorologist Eric Burke sits down with Johnny Cantrell, CEO of Apprisen, who talks about an upcoming career clinic being held on Saturday, March 18th.
Cantrell says, whether you’re unemployed, seeking a promotion, or looking for a second job to supplement your income, your job search can be impacted by your credit report. Depending on state law, employers may check your credit history before considering you for a position, or even an internal promotion. Tough circumstances such as a divorce, layoff, or even a medical problem can put many people in financial dire straits and these issues can impact a credit report and create a different perception of the candidate.
Many employers privately admit that your personal credit report gives them an indication of the quality of your work. If you make payments on time, pay off debt in a timely fashion, and avoid judgments and tax liens, you may be the right person for the job. If you ignore your creditors, allow bills to go into collection, and are consistently late making payments, you may find yourself in a difficult situation when seeking a job. To employers your financial past may say something about your responsibility level and ability to manage affairs.
Apprisen’s Career Clinic can help you get the job, and not allow your credit score to determine your employability!
The clinic will take place from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the BCTC Newtown Pike Campus, located at 500 Newtown Pike in Lexington. Registration for the clinic can be made by calling Jubilee Jobs at (859) 377-0135.
