LEXINGTON, Ky.( WTVQ) – A 13-year-old boy who survived two bouts of cancer realized his dream of being a police officer courtesy of the Lexington Police Department.
Doctors first discovered a tumor in Tyler Biggs’ brain when he was four months old. His mother, Amanda Biggs tells ABC 36 that doctors said Tyler would not live past his 10th birthday.
Tyler recovered from the first diagnosis with chemotherapy, but the cancer came back 8 years later. Tyler underwent chemotherapy again and survived.
His mother says Tyler has always admired police and would like to become one someday.
As a special birthday gift — the Lexington Police Department gave Tyler his own police uniform and escorted him to class at Leestown Middle School.
His partner for the day was Officer B.J. Blank also known to many in Lexington as the ‘Dancing Cop’.
