LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington city officials say thousands of people are expected to pack downtown this weekend for multiple events.
On Saturday activities will begin with the Shamrock Shuffle 3K at 8 a.m. then at 1 p.m. will be the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
Street Closures for the race: Mill Street will be closed between High Street and Main Street. Vine St. will be closed from Mill St. to Midland Ave. Midland Avenue will be closed from Third to Main Street. Main Street will be closed from Midland Ave. to Upper St.
Street Closures for the parade between 11:00a.m. to 2:30p.m.: Midland Ave. will be closed between Third St. and Main St. Main will be closed from Midland Ave. to Mill St.
In addition to the city-planned festivities, the following events are scheduled to take place at Lexington Center venues:
• Approximately 14,000 people are expected Saturday at the Lexington Comic and Toy Convention (Comic Con), taking place at the Lexington Convention Center. The event is open to the public throughout the weekend. Event times are; Friday, 4 p.m. – 9 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
• Winter Jam, a contemporary Christian concert, with a projected attendance of 12,000 – 15,000 will occur on Saturday evening. The doors will open at 5:00 p.m. and the concert will begin at 6:00 p.m.
• The Lexington Opera House will host multiple performances of Scapa Dance. The first show will be Friday night at 7:30 p.m. followed by two performances on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
