The News-Enterprise (http://bit.ly/2h2rx4k ) reports a Hardin County jury recommended Monday that Cox get life with parole eligibility after 20 years.

Two witnesses testified about calling 911 after seeing a man repeatedly strike something in the back seat of his car on Aug. 6, 2015. Neither said they saw a child, although that is what they suspected.

Cox left the unresponsive infant with the baby’s mother and the infant died two days later.

Defense attorney Eric Bates argued his client was guilty of reckless homicide, not murder.

A man accused of fatally beating his 4-month-old son while driving down a highway is going on trial in Kentucky.

The News-Enterprise (http://bit.ly/2gyn09F ) reports that jury selection in 36-year-old Daniel Cox’s trial begins Monday.

Cox has pleaded not guilty to a murder-domestic violence charge in last year’s death of Jayceon Chrystie.

Witnesses near Elizabethtown called 911 to report seeing a man beating an infant in a car seat while driving down a highway. Authorities say the child had no pulse and was black and blue when Cox left the unresponsive infant with the baby’s mother, who called police. He died two days later at the hospital.

Prosecutors say they have offered Cox no plea deal. He faces 20 years to life in prison if convicted.
