LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ)- State police say a nine-year-old daughter of a crash victim survived and searched for help after their vehicle flipped upside down into a creek.
Troopers say Monday morning, 34-year-old Chasity A. Murphy was driving on South Highway 421 in Clay County when she lost control, dropped off the roadway, and landed upside down in a creek. Murphy was pronounced dead at the scene.
While there, troopers say a passing motorist on the Hal Rogers Parkway noticed the nine-year-old over an embankment. Troopers say it was Murphy’s daughter who’d been in the crash but survived, swimming across the creek and climbing the embankment in search of help.
The child was taken to the hospital. Troopers say the investigation is still underway.
