Car Crash Kills Beloved Breathitt Basketball Coach and Husband

BREATHITT COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- Funeral arrangements have now been announced for a husband and wife killed in a car crash this weekend. The much beloved 60-year-old Peggy Moore and her husband, 59-year-old Leon Moore, will be buried in the Moore family cemetery in Whick, Kentucky.

Visitation will start Tuesday 5 p.m. at the Fairce O. Woods Coliseum in Jackson. The Breathitt County Coroner tells ABC 36 the Moores died after a crash on KY 15 Saturday night.

Peggy Moore was the girls’ basketball coach at the county high school. The coroner says the couple’s son is the head football coach at the school. He was at state championships in Bowling Green when he got the news.

Several people have reacted on Facebook, offering condolences to the family.

Laura said, “Peggy Moore was more than just a great coach…She always showed respect… on the court and off.”

Chrystal said, “I’m shaking, crying, and scared to death. So many prayers for the moore family. God love and bless each of them.”
