MOUNT STERLING, Ky. (WTVQ) – Nine-year old Brayden Heath was honored Monday night with the Duty, Honor, Courage Award from Montgomery County Fire and EMS for his heroic actions following a horrible car accident last summer.
On August 28, investigators say a car collided with the Heath’s family car on KY 213 South.
Brayden was seriously injured, along with several of his family members.
Firefighters say the young boy fought through the intense pain of bone fractures and in a courageous and calm manner, provided emergency crews at the accident scene with vital information that aided in the treatment and rescue of his family.
In addition to the award, Brayden was named the honorary Fire Chief and Grand Marshal for the Mount Sterling Christmas Parade Monday evening.
He received an embroidered hat and firefighter shirt with his name and honorary title.
Brayden told the firefighters that one day he would love to be a Firefighter or a Police Officer because he would like to help others.
