LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- The University of Kentucky and UK Healthcare often find diverse ways to celebrate the holidays. Here’s a list of December events provided by UK and UK Healthcare:

Dec. 2, Deck Your Halls With Work From UK Artists at “Open Studio”

6-9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at UK Art and Visual Studies Building

The UK School of Art and Visual Studies will open its doors to the public this holiday season at the UK Art and Visual Studies Building on Bolivar Street. The community is invited to discover and celebrate the work of UK’s talented young visual artists and esteemed faculty. Student and faculty artists’ work can be purchased at the event in time for the gift-giving season. The event includes the popular Carey Ellis Juried Student Show, crafts and activities for children, live music, food and drinks. Free event, but $5 donation suggested.

Dec. 3-4, Have a Holly, Jolly “Collage”

2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3; and 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, Singletary Center for the Arts Concert Hall

Rejoice in the holiday spirit at this popular Central Kentucky tradition, presented by the UK Choirs. “Collage” features celebrated vocalists and musicians from the UK School of Music and the Lexington community, as well as the Lexington Singers Children’s Choir. The UK Choirs’ “Collage” concerts have become one of the biggest annual events in the history of the UK School of Music. It is a fast-paced, visually stimulating concert that showcases approximately 500 musicians, including 300 vocalists. The concert program features music for the holidays from around the world. Dec. 5-8, Markey Wreath Auction

Monday-Thursday, Dec. 5-8, Combs Atrium, Markey Cancer Center

During this time, wreaths will be on display for viewing. The online auction will be live and will stay open through midnight on Dec. 8. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the 2017 Expressions of Courage Survivor Celebration.

Dec. 9, Circle of Love Gift Pick-up at UK HealthCare

8 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9 in the front circle of UK Chandler Hospital Pavilion A

UK HealthCare employees are making holiday wishes come true for children in Fayette and surrounding counties by purchasing holiday gifts. Schools will pick-up the gifts 8-9 a.m. Dec. 9.

Dec. 10, A Cup of Joe and a Jazzy Ho, Ho, Ho

9-11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at A Cup of Common Wealth

UK jazz faculty and students will play holiday favorites at popular coffee spot A Cup of Common Wealth. The public is encouraged to stop by for some coffee and live performances of carols to get in that holiday mood. Free event, but 10 percent of sales at A Cup of Common Wealth will go to UK Friends of Music, which contributes to the UK School of Music’s scholarships as well as provides funds to its students and faculty for travel for performances, research and conferences.

Dec. 11, Oh What Fun to Sing Along at “Celebration of Song”

3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at The Square

In the spirit of the season, join Alltech and UK Opera Theatre led by Professor of Voice and Director of UK Opera Theatre Everett McCorvey for an old fashioned holiday sing-along at The Square. Free.

Dec. 13, Have Yourself a “Jazzy Holiday Concert”

7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, Singletary Center for the Arts

Bluegrass Area Jazz Ambassadors warm up the holiday season with the sounds of jazz. The annual “Jazzy Holiday Concert” features Central Kentucky’s best jazz musicians. Ticketed: $9 adult, $4 children/students, free for UK students with valid ID if purchased at Singletary Center ticket office before the day of the concert. Tickets available at 859-257-4929 or

Dec. 12, Holiday Bread-Making Demonstration

3-5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, UK Food Connection Kitchen in The 90

Markey oncologist Dr. Philip DeSimone and dietitian Siddhi Shroff will demonstrate how to make fresh holiday-themed breads from scratch. This free food demo is open to the public.
