Police chase crosses county lines, stops when driver arrives at dead end

CORBIN, Ky. (WTVQ)- A late night police pursuit spanning two counties ended when the suspect drove into a dead end.

Kentucky State Police say the pursuit started around 11 Thursday night in Corbin. Troopers say a KSP-Vehicle Enforcement Officers tried to stop a driver after they made an improper turn onto US 25 East. After a traffic stop, police say two passengers got out of the vehicle before the driver took off again, driving fast.

Troopers say the pursuing officer followed the vehicle through parts of Corbin, where they were driving reckless at times, turning off headlights, and driving on the wrong side of the road. Troopers say the pursuit continued into the Knox County Moore Hill community and came to an end after the suspect was unable to drive any further.

Troopers say 35-year-old Roy L. Garland, of Corbin, was arrested and charged with DUI, Fleeing or Evading Police, and Resisting Arrest. Garland is in the Laurel County Detention Center.
