BEREA, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police say a traffic stop for not wearing a seat belt ended with one person behind bars and another at the juvenile detention center on drug charges.
According to KSP, an officer stopped a Chevrolet utility truck on Battlefield Memorial Highway. Investigators say the officer was able to determine that a passenger in the truck gave the officer false information about his identity. When that was confirmed through dispatch, the passenger was identified as 23-year-old Jackie R. Bishop III, of Richmond, who had two active arrest warrants.
The officer also checked another passenger, who had tobacco products and appeared to be under 18. While searching the juvenile, the officer says he found a small cut-off straw and a small plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine.
The juvenile was taken to Baptist Health in Richmond to be checked out, and then taken to the Fayette County Juvenile Detention Center, charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, and possession of tobacco.
Bishop was taken to the Madison County Detention Center and charged on the active arrest warrants, as well as giving an officer false information.
