LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Liza Betz says she often sees drivers racing to beat lights around her business. Wednesday morning, a truck crashed into her neighbor, Harvey’s Bar during the morning commute.
Firefighters say a collision at the intersection of South Upper and West Main sent the truck through the front entrance to the popular night spot. Crews determined throughout the day the structure was safe and most of the damage was cosmetic.
Betz thinks a crash like this could happen again though.
“They are always trying to get that light. They’ll just speed up and come down. You’ll stand outside there, I’ll be putting my chair out and this car will come zooming by. It’s scary, people need to slow down,” she says.
Harvey’s is near Failte, a small business dedicated to selling authentic Irish merchandise.
“Well, that’s not the first time it’s happened and we’re just lucky someone wasn’t walking down the street, you know,” says Betz.
Firefighters say one driver was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
