ASHLAND, Ky. (WTVQ) – State Police say a man was hit and killed while standing in his driveway at 3730 State Route 2 in Greenup County Tuesday afternoon.
Investigators say 72-year old Janice Gullett, of Greenup, was driving a 1995 Cadillac westbound on State Route 2 shortly after 2:00 p.m.
State Police say Gullett’s car went off the shoulder of the road, hit a fence, continued onto a gravel driveway of a home where it hit a parked truck and then struck 66-year old Earnest Bying Johnson before finally coming to a stop after hitting a garage.
Investigators say Johnson was standing between the parked truck and his garage.
Johnson was pronounced dead at Our Lady of Bellfonte Hospital an hour after getting hit, according to State Police.
State Police say Gullett was wearing her seat belt, but did suffer minor injuries. She was treated and released at Our Lady of Bellfonte Hospital.
Investigators say at this time, the cause of the accident and any possible drug or alcohol involvement is still under investigation.
State Police say any criminal charges against Gullett are pending the completion of the investigation.
