LEXINGTON, Ky (WTVQ) – Friday morning Mayor Jim Gray and the Lexington Bluegrass Association of Realtors announced a $15,000 grant from the National Association of Realtor’s Housing Opportunity Program for the homeless.
LBAR has offered an additional $1500 grant to help those in need of shelter get permanent housing.
The grants will be used for deposits and first month’s rent.
The funds will be distributed through Lexington’s New Life Day Center — a one-stop day shelter that provides services and opportunities for the homeless.
In March – the shelter launched a similar program with $10,000 and housed 83 people in nine months.
Funds from the latest grant will benefit 15 households.
