LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) – University of Kentucky officials say they’ve received an increased number of reports of racial slurs and incidents on campus since Trump’s election.

UK spokesman Jay Blanton tells local media that from Nov. 9 to Nov. 11, about nine incidents were reported to school officials – which he says is “a pretty good uptick” over what the school would normally see over the course of a semester.

Blanton says most reports involved racial and ethnic slurs being said to students. At least two of the reports alleged physical altercations. In one, Blanton says someone removed a Muslim student’s headscarf.

University President Eli Capilouto sent a campus-wide email saying in part that the UK community must “strongly condemn any behavior designed to create a community of hostility, aggression and exclusion for anyone.”
