FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Lexington Police Department’s helicopter was called out Tuesday evening to help search for a jail escapee in Franklin County.

The search was concentrated in the area of I-64 and US 60, according to law enforcement authorities.

State Police reportedly caught up with the escapee near the I-64, US 60 intersection after receiving a report of a stolen car.

Investigators say the escapee took off running and got away.

K9 units were brought in along with the LPD helicopter to aid in the search.

The inmate’s name wasn’t released nor any details surrounding the escape.
