IRVINE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Residents in Estill County are invited to a public forum Monday to get an update and ask questions about the illegal dumping in their community.
The Cabinet for Health and Family Services and the Energy and Environment Cabinet will discuss the investigation into low-level waste dumped in the Blue Ridge Landfill.
The landfill is near two schools.
The state says a company called Advanced Tenorm Services brought the waste to Estill County from other states for five months last year.
In July, Kentucky’s attorney general announced there was ‘not’ enough evidence to seek criminal charges, but the ECC said it will impose significant civil penalties.
Cabinet members say they will give updates on those penalties and answer questions from the community at the public forum tonight.
It will be from 7-9 p.m. at Estill County High School auditorium in Irvine.
