Students Honor Late Classmate at Transylvania University


LEXINGTON, Ky (WTVQ)-Students at Transylvania University honored a former classmate Sunday. They dedicated a pavilion at the university in memory of Mary Katherine Stewart.

Students raised about $21,000 over a semester to pay for it.

“We knew that we needed to make a mark for her legacy and I really do think this pavilion speaks volumes to her personality,” Elaine Bailey, a friend, said.

Stewart was just 22 when she died after falling off a cliff during a hike at Raven Run Nature Sanctuary.
