LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Funeral arrangements are set for one of two victims hit and killed over the weekend by an accused drunk driver.
Louisville Metro Police Detective Jason Schweitzer, along with another man, were hit by a driver at around 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning on South Upper Street.
Lexington police say the driver, 26-year-old Suzanne Whitlow, was drunk. She has been charged with manslaughter and DUI.
Police say Schweitzer was at a Fraternal Order of Police conference, and was just asking for directions when he was hit.
A friend says Schweitzer’s dad was a detective and he wanted to follow in his footsteps.
Schweitzer was expecting a second child with his wife.
His funeral is scheduled for Wednesday in Louisville.
Since he was in Lexington doing police work his death could be considered a line of duty death.
The other victim, 56-year-old Timothy Moore, was a utility plant operator at the University of Kentucky.
He was on duty when the crash happened right outside the building where he worked.
Moore worked at UK for 14 years.
