Clark Co. man indicted on manslaughter, assault charges in fatal June wreck

WINCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ) – Court documents from Clark County say that 84-year-old James Pelfrey has been indicted on charges related to a collision back in June that killed two people.

According to the indictment, Pelfrey faces two charges of manslaughter and one of assault.

The charges are in relation to a collision on June 7th, 2016.  According to the indictment, Pelfrey “wantonly operat[ed] a vehicle cuasing a collision” that killed Sara Helfrich and Juanetta Mitchell.

Pelfrey faces an assault charge as well, stemming from the wreck causing serious injuries to Sadalia Mitchell.

The indictment was filed on October 20.
