Police in Lexington are releasing surveillance photos of a man they believe was involved in 2 armed robberies on Wednesday.
Officers say just before 1:00 p.m., they were called to the Advance America store on Southland Drive. Investigators say a man had been in the store earlier in the day, left, and then returned and robbed the place. Witnesses told police that the man pulled a gun, demanded money, and then ran off when he got it.
Later, around 2:30 p.m., police say the Game Stop on East Reynolds Road in the Crossroads Plaza reported an armed robbery. Again, a man had entered the store earlier, and then returned. Police say the man asked to purchase two video game systems, but when they were brought to the counter, he showed his handgun and had employees turn around and face the wall. Police say the man then took the game systems, along with cash from the registers, and ran off.
Investigators say that based on surveillance from both scenes, and witness accounts, they believe the robberies may be connected. The suspect is described as being around 5’8″ tall, with a thin build.
