KSP: Man pointed gun at trooper while fleeing arrest

MOREHEAD, Ky. (WTVQ)- State police say a Rowan County man pointed a gun at a trooper as they tried to serve an arrest warrant Wednesday night.

Troopers say the man, 22-year-old Matthew Brewer, was shot to death at his home on Old Hilda Road.

ABC 36 spoke with neighbors living along Old Hilda Road who say Brewer lived in a home there with his mother and other family members and had done so for years.

KSP isn’t releasing the name of the trooper who shot and killed Brewer but say it’s policy for them to be put on paid administrative leave.

Two previous arrest citations from August placed Brewer behind bars on drug charges and terroristic threatening charges.

The officer-involved shooting is under investigation.
