LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The devastation and destruction in Haiti from Hurricane Matthew might be 1,500 miles away from Central Kentucky but it is hitting close to home for one Lexington pastor.
Eric Bernard leads the Haitian Eastern Baptist Church. He moved to Lexington about ten years ago but still has many friends and family in Haiti.
“They lost every single thing, there’s nothing left,” said Bernard.
He’s collecting donations to send to Haiti. Things can be dropped off at the church starting Saturday morning at 9:00.
Bernard says summer clothes are especially needed but right now money is the easiest thing to send and most helpful so people in Haiti can buy essential items.
The Haitian Eastern Baptist Church is in the Basement of First Baptist Church at 552 West Short Street in Lexington.
