UPDATE: LPD says fatal stabbing may have been self-defense


LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Fayette County Coroner says a man has died after a fight Wednesday night on North Martin Luther King Boulevard that involved a gun and a knife.

According to the coroner, 40-year-old Timothy Lee Jones was brought to the hospital after the fight and was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

Officers say Jones had an ongoing dispute with his neighbor, that escalated on Wednesday when Jones approached his neighbor while armed with a rifle.

Police say during that argument, the neighbor defended himself with a pocket knife.

The investigation continues, however officers say no charges have been filed.



Lexington police say a man was stabbed Wednesday night in a fight that involved a knife and a gun.

They say officers were called to the 400 block of North Martin Luther King Boulevard. Police say the victim and another man had been involved in confrontations throughout the day. According to officers, things escalated and one of the men stabbed the other one several times.

Police say the victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Investigators say they’re questioning the suspect. They say he’s cooperating with officers.
