MIDDLESBORO, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man is behind bars after Troopers say he led them on a chase, and then got into a fight with an officer.

Police say around noon on Tuesday, they attempted to stop a 2007 kawasaki dirt bike on KY 74 in Middlesboro.  Officers say that when they turned on their lights and siren, the driver sped off.  Investigators say they followed the bike down KY 2396 and KY 441, but then the driver lost control and wrecked the bike.

When Troopers went to arrest him, they say 45-year-old Stephen Hobbs got into a fight with officers, and they had to use pepper spray and a taser to get him under control.  Hobbs and a Trooper were treated on-scene for minor injuries.

Hobbs was taken to the Bell Co. Detention Center and charged with numerous traffic violations, fleeing or evading, menacing, resisting arrest, and criminal mischief.
