LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The co-defendant in a high-profile Lexington murder case has received his sentence.
Timothy Ballard, convicted in the 2014 kidnapping and murder of UK chef Alex Johnson, will serve 25 years for his involvement in the crime.
Johnson’s body was found in December 2013, stuffed into a barrel that had been rolled into the Kentucky River.
Last month, a jury found Mark Taylor guilty of Johnson’s murder. Investigators say Timothy Ballard admitted to his involvement with the kidnapping and hiding of Johnson’s body. He testified that he led investigators to Johnson’s body in January of 2014.
A jury has recommended a 49 year sentence for Taylor.
