LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Expect traffic delays in downtown Lexington after a car collided with a police cruiser at the intersection of W. Main Street and Upper Street Thursday afternoon.
Officers say if happened just after 2:30 p.m. as a Lexington police officer was responding to a call from another officer. As the cruiser crossed Main Street, investigators say another car hit the cruiser in the rear passenger side.
Police say the cruiser had lights and sirens on, and the light on Main Street was green. The driver of the other car told officers that they didn’t see the police car.
Both drivers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The collision remains under investigation.
No word on when the scene will be cleared, but investigators say the accident has caused a large backup on Main Street.
