LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- UK Healthcare leadership gathered Tuesday morning to talk about Zika in the U.S. and abroad but also to present helpful tips to prevent being bitten by mosquitoes.
Doctors from Infection Prevention and Control, as well as Obstetrics and Gynecology at UK Healthcare spoke about the minimal risk Kentuckians have of being infected with Zika, especially if they’re not traveling to Central and South America.
Doctors also took the time to remind us of easy tips to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes including wearing long sleeves and pants, using insect repellent, and being sure to drain and standing water from around our homes.
In addition, doctors hope everyone will listen to travel advisories, especially women who are pregnant or are trying to get pregnant.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also have plenty of advice online. Find it here: http://www.cdc.gov/zika/.
