RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – Following an action by the Kentucky General Assembly, U.S. Route 25X in Madison Co. will be renamed the “Officer Daniel Ellis Memorial Highway.”
The section of roadway is U.S. Route 25X between its two intersections with U.S. Route 25.
The sign will be unveiled Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at the Richmond Police Station on Lexington Road.
Daniel Ellis was born in Campbellsville, and graduated from Taylor County High School in 2000. He graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 2005 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Officer Ellis began working for the Richmond Police Department on August 11, 2008, and had recently been promoted to detective when he was killed in the line of duty during 2015.
