LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) – Authorities have identified a deceased man who they believe was killed over unpaid rent money.

Deputy coroner Larry Carroll tells local media that 43-year-old Shane McCain died Monday about an hour after he was shot at one of his properties in North Louisville.

Louisville Metro Police say McCain went to the home seeking rent money from his tenant, 21-year-old Joshua L. Young. During an argument, Young is accused of pulling out a gun and shooting McCain.

McCain attempted to leave the scene in a vehicle, which police say Young shot at. The victim was taken to the University of Louisville Hospital where he died.

Young turned himself in to police Monday afternoon. He faces several charges, including murder. Young pleaded not guilty to the charges Tuesday morning in Jefferson District Court.
