BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Knox Co. Sheriff says that there were no injuries after an impaired driver ran into a Jackson Co. school bus Tuesday night.
According to the Sheriff, deputies received a call just before 10:30 p.m. about a crash on US 25 E in Barbourville, involving a school bus and a Chevrolet pickup truck. Deputies say the driver of the truck, 27-year-old Christopher Hildebrand, was traveling north behind the school bus as it approached a railroad crossing. When the bus slowed down, deputies say Hildebrand couldn’t stop in time and ran into it. Deputies say Hildebrand’s truck ended up on the southbound shoulder where it caught fire.
Neither the driver nor the seven students on the bus reported any injuries, according to investigators. Hildebrand was also not injured, but was charged with a DUI, along with other traffic violations. He was also charged on three outstanding bench warrants out of Knox Co.
